Frame Separator

A recent article in AIHAJ has indicated that it is imperative that samples of Chrome VI collected on PVC filters must be stored in alkali solution imediately after sampling and analyzed within 3 days. Significant oxidation occurs if these rules are not followed.

The recommended field fixation solution is 2% NaOH / 3% Na2CO3

Ref: AIHAJ (61) Jul/Aug 2000 - Yong Chul Shin, Nam Won Paik of the School of Occ. Safety Systems Engineering Inje Univ. and School of Public Health, Seoul respectively

Editors note: The authors have confirmed that the PVC filters used in their experiment were marketed by Nuclepore Corporation. This coporation no longer sells PVC filters. The PVC filters that they were marketing were manufactured by Omega Specialty instruments and sold to nuclepore on an OEM basis from 1986 to 1995.
